Civil association Pro Silva Slovakia brings together foresters, forest owners, forest companies, academia, researchers, forestry trainers and students who apply close to nature forestry principles and share a common interest for its wider promotion.
The main activities and interests of Pro Silva Slovakia focus at the transfer of knowledge and exchange of experience in close-to-nature forestry, preservation of natural forest ecosystems and biodiversity, organization of workshops, excursions, facilitating education, providing consultancy, maintaining and expanding the network of exemplary forests, participation in policy-making and legislative processes Pro Silva Slovakia has been officially registered as civil association at the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic in February 2022. The association, however, is the successor of the former group bearing the same name without legal entity, which promoted close-to-nature forestry in Slovak forests since 1993. Prof. Korpel who initiated this movement in Slovakia, also was a founding member of the European Pro Silva association.
